blond Hair, blue eyed Innocence Acrylic on canvas 150 X 200 cm Jan 2009
This is my biggest painting to date, I htink the next one will be slightly bigger but this is prob my limit as my studio cant accomadate anything larger !!
Anyway I did a monchrome as I wanted to see how i got on with working on a large scale canvas for the 1st time. I am pleased with te final outcome and may do a few more similar in the future.
This painting revolves around Hyper realist imagary and a photograph that only exist through digital manipulation and / or a painting.
I'm going to varnish it with a gloss finish and this will bring out the darker tones a bit more. I always photograph the artwork before varnishgin as its more or less impossible to get a decent photograph because of the glare that the varnish produces.
yeh really like it pal.... so this is what you have been up to....
the hairs great, your getting better wih that magic brush thing.. well done..
and of course the size 2, it s a great size, your biggest on one panel to date...bet its got a big impact, when am i seeing it in the galleery, book launch?
and also its on canvas, you sticking with canvas, how was it to return to canvas... i think its probs not such an issue cos of the size, but something small, i imagine you would still be tempted by panel?
the hair is a mixture of airbrush, my magic paint brush and water colour pencils. I needed to build up lots and lots of individual hairs, then airbrush over them to blend them, then just keep repeating the process.
yeah this for book.
i wouldnt do a small painting on canvas, but the larger one are easier and seem to work better with my method of working.
will have to deliver way before launch though as need to get work down in mid march for BP. Not even started that yet !!! hopefully new canvas arrives tommorrow or day after.
